All good things must come to an end, and while this is potentially the end of my ownership with this Cayman, it’s hopefully not the end of the car.
Up for sale is my damaged 987.2 2009 Porsche Cayman S MT track car. It has been used for HPDEs and some time attack for the past 6 years or so, and has been excellent to own. Incredibly reliable, a blast to drive, and a weapon on the track. It has a clean California title in my name, with 95,000 miles on the clock. Located in El Dorado, CA (Outside Sacramento).
At a recent Sonoma track day I made a mistake going into Turn 10, for those that know Sonoma, small mistakes quickly turn into damage there. Luckily, I was totally fine, the safety gear did its job, and the car handled it like a champ too.
I had track insurance but opted to buy back the car, as while superficially it doesn’t look great, I have inspected the car fairly thoroughly and I believe it is straight. Even the front left suspension looks undamaged (though this should be verified). It’s the perfect candidate to turn into a dedicated track car, for the right buyer. At the very least, the car is worth a substantial amount in parts.
I am currently going back and forth on keeping and fixing it myself, or letting it go. I have an 18 month old with another baby on the way shortly, so considering how limited my time is currently I’m afraid it’ll just sit for the next few years, so I have decided to offer it up and see if this is a project that interests anyone.
The car will be sold AS-IS. Any interested buyer is more than welcome to thoroughly inspect it at my home, or professionally. The car has been very well maintained, and I am happy to share my logs with tens of thousands in maintenance accounted for, along with oil analysis done at each engine/transmission flush. The car starts and drives (leaks coolant).
Some of the big ticket items still on the car that have good value include:
3.4L Engine (Stock, minus a Softronic tune & custom Oil Catch Can setup)
6-Speed Manual Transmission with OS Giken LSD (Just installed)
CVJ rebuilt and race-prepped axles (Just installed)
Ohlins Track Dedicated Coilovers (Just installed)
SPL Front LCA (Just Installed)
PMG Rebuilt Brake Calipers (Just installed)
Top Gear Headers
Tarett Front swaybar & links
Tarett Motorsport Tie rods (Just installed)
Apex VS-5RS Wheels
Those alone account for over $22,000 in value once pulled. The car also comes with my piles and bins of stock parts, including my OEM front fenders, so bolt those on and you’re ahead of the game on repairs there too!
The car still has GT4 RS underbody aero, various OEM GT3/GT2 ducting and fender liners, etc (will share spreadsheet of mod list) installed. I also have a new air dam I’ll include for that Verus splitter on the car if you wanted to try and reuse it. The center radiator is a custom modified 997.2 GT3 setup (CSF rad) that uses OE mounts/ducts to make the smile vent fully functional. Looks like the main bracket is damaged but a lot should be reusable.
I’m asking $12,000 for the car and parts listed, AS-IS. I’ve also got a ton of aftermarket parts I pulled off the car in preparation for the insurance company taking it. If you’re interested in any of those I’m happy to make a good deal on them as well (and otherwise, they’ll be for sale here later assuming the car sells).
Serious buyers, contact me and I’ll share my spreadsheets, full photo album, and information with you.
