1978 GMC C10 Short Bed – Built 350 | Turbo 350 | Driver Project This 1978 GMC C10 short-bed pickup, originally from North Dakota, is a very solid, mostly original truck that’s been extensively rebuilt mechanically with the goal of being a strong driver rather than a full restoration. It’s powered by a rebuilt 350 V8 (from a ’94 Chevy pickup) featuring a Vortec rotating assembly, rebuilt TBI 350 heads, Howards Rattler roller cam, hydraulic roller lifters, and all-new supporting components including oil pump, timing chain, water pump, fuel pump, distributor, ignition parts, headers, and a new dual exhaust. The drivetrain includes a rebuilt Turbo 350 transmission with a B&M shift kit and B&M 2000-stall converter. Recent upgrades include: New tires Steering & suspension components (tie rods, ball joints, shocks, pitman & idler arms) Brake service (caliper & hose) Rear lowering shackles New fuel tank & sending unit Spray-in bedliner New glass, seals, and window felts Bluetooth stereo with Rockford speakers The truck runs and drives well, makes strong power, and shows excellent oil pressure (60 psi cold / 40 psi warm). The cam is aggressive and doesn’t idle well in gear with the stock intake, so some additional tuning is recommended. Equipped with power steering, original-style rally wheels, and includes extra parts. A solid, clean C10 that’s already had major work done.
