Does any one have rust problems inside their distributors ,the reluctar and pickup are very rusty after being stored for the winter season, what if a small vent hole was drilled do you think this would cure this or am i the only 1 with this prob. :?

It seems that drilling a hole would allow more moisture into the cap. There must be a lot of dampness where you stored the distributor. I would just clean it and next year put a dessicant pack in the cap when storing. Make sure to remove again before use.

A vent hole is almost a must IMO

I can assure you that you're not the only one. It's a major problem here in the deep south with all the humidity. If the car is not stored in a heated garage. It's especially bad if you're running a Mech advance (not locked out) It's easier to pull the distributor out (duck tape the opening)and bring it into the house at the end of the season, or check it before running the following yr.

Zip.

I believe there is a marine reluctor available that has a protective coating on it.

Also you can remove the pick up before it gets corroded and protect it with paint or clear laquer.

I generally bring my car back into my garage after every race and just lift the cap off to let moisture out and that seems to help. An air conditioner in the garage also helps.

WD40 is the 'protect all' for distributors.

:D :D :D
