Water pump leak
The water pump in my truck was leaking out of a hole in the bottom of it and i was told it has to be replaced, but before i could do that it stopped leaking. Does the pump still need to be replaced?
|
Yes. Water pumps have a habit of intermittent leaks, but it needs replaced regardless......

Should i buy a new one or is a remanufactured one alright?
|
Personally I'd get a new one. I'm not a big fan of reman stuff if I can get new. What make/model truck and what engine? Some are pretty straight forward and a reman might be ok if you have to do it again. Some are a pain, Duramax comes to mind.....

Depends on your pocket book.
Reman would be fine. A lot of brand new cars have remanufactured parts on them! |

I agree with johnracer though, I would buy
new if it was me for what good that does. Got the wife a new car and when it was time for front pads we found remaned rotors from the factory! |
It's a 1994 GMC c1500 with the 4.3l v6.
I've looked at Summit's website and they have a new stock replacement for $40 or a reman one for $20 I was told by a friend from the track that it'll be easy to replace even for me since i'm only 17 and still learning a lot |
What about Auto Zone or some local
parts house? They should have one without having to pay shipping and handling. They may want a core charge until you bring the core back. Just a thought |
i've checked with the NAPA store just down the road and the cheapest reman they have is like 25 so i figure after tax it would be pretty much the same if i got it there or online. Napa said it would be about almost 2 weeks before it would get here from the warehouse but summit it would ship tomorrow and be here friday or saturday
