what if i dont have the right stall converter?

My cam specs recomend a 3000 stall. But as far as i know mine is just a 2000. What kind of problems will i encounter. Just a lack of power on the lower end?

Blue68Camaro your car just want run at its best if you don't have the right converter.

Blue68Camaro 09-23-2007 03:34 PM

What do you mean "run" can you explain?

woodsman 09-23-2007 03:56 PM

If you load your engine up at 2000rpm and your cam wants 3000rpm than you will not get your best ET because you are operating outside of your cam spec. Its not going to hurt anything but your ET an MPH. If you put a 3500 stall in it you will see what I mean right off. We'll have fun with it.

OK so it only really matters for the strip. As far as driving on the street maybe just a dog on the low end?

You got it :D

car might jerk when stopped at a light or whatever,to low of a stall speed and the car wont idle without holding the throttle.

itll be a real dogg with a big cam and small converter dont mix

ask me ho w i know

learned this when i was 18 put a 240 240 530 540 cam in a bb olds 455 with a stock converter it wouldnt even burn the tires

you need a 3000 for any muscale car in my opinion

chevguy65 10-17-2007 08:56 AM

Not only will it not want to idle in gear, it will be a bitch to hold back.
I made that mistake once and my leg got really big holding the car at stoplights.
