Pro Comp heads, any good????
 

I recently had some major damage to my heads, they were Bowtie alluminum on my 496 BBC, question is, I have saw a lot of adds for the pro comp heads and was wondering if anyone had used these or if they are any count.

Have read a lot of bad things about them.
Gossip is a Form of Ear Pollution, but word on the street is Pro Comp is out of bussiness and RHS bought the design a few years back, stuck a bunch of money in the design to make it better.

I don't know about you, but I never want to be the guinea pig on any new casting.

Save yourself a headache and a bunch of CASH$$$$$$$, Dart, Brodix and AFR will help you obtain any power level your looking to achieve....

Pro-Comps and Patriots are cheap Chinese knock offs of guys like Dick Maskin at Dart, who put hundreds if not thousands of hours of development and testing into their heads.

wow you just said a mouthfull onebadgmc . I own my own trucking business and I have never been in such bad shape. The only trucking going on right now is the sea containers and you know what they haul imported garbage!! I used to haul steel out of ohio, pittsburgh ,and west virginia the mills are on skeleton crews and closing up!I sure dont see it getting any better any time soon.I am personally looking at selling my equipment and getting a (real) job. I never thought I would ever go back to letting someone tell me how to do my job but I really have no choice if I want to keep everything I have worked so hard to get! And its just like you said a nation cant survive on the service industry alone we need manufacturing etc...

They're spending money on short term crap, that's all service related. When these 'service' jobs are completed, the people they hired will lose their jobs again.

We need to be investing in manufacturing. Taking raw materials and turning them into finished goods is what will grow the country. There has to be a healthy balance between manufacturing and service...

It takes about 2 to 2 1/2 years to fully imput the stimulas money into the communities, by then we will be looking a a reelection campaign, people on TV stating that if they had not had the governments help they would be in dispare, out of work or bankrupt.

About a year after the next election all the stimulas money will be dried up along with the jobs the stimulas funds help finance. Bread and soup lines will form, What a mess............ I hate to even think about it....

Our country needs a foundation to build on. The services industry that swept our country in the 90's and to present has no furture or net worth. Service companies are worthless and serve as an outsource to launder and waste our nations finances. In the end this multitrillion dollar idea will fail. Nothing to do but twittle your thumbs and talk about the good old days......

The manufacturing of product lines to be used in america is what our country needs. We have a vast amount of unrefined raw minerals and materials to utilize to rebuild our once great & wealthy nation.

From our cell phones, coffee pots and ourunder garments, damn near every commodity we use on a daily basis is out sourced & shipped to our country.

We need oil, they need wheat.
In america the english language is our current form of language, but it may not be for long. You want to live in america, learn to read and speak the english language.

If you wish to transfer into our country and become an american citizen, follow the common laws of our country. Common laws are ment to be followed, If you are in our country illeaglly, you should be deported. As a model american citizen your first obligation is to follow our common laws, not disobey them.

Usually what happens in the US happens here in oz some time later, but whitey70SS what you are describing is what has been happening here for some years, The Gov't here has babbled about the level playing field, dismantled industry & basically sold out the lucky country, & the only thing that saves us now is a small population & huge mines, Otherwise we'd be screwed like you guys will be & i don't know what the soloution is, & even if I did would be unable to implement it.

I buy USA and support our country whenever I can.

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but almost every crankshaft seller uses the cheap Chinese forgings for their budget crank including Crower,Howard, Eagle,Hawk,Scat, Ohio, etc. The list goes on. The difference is how well they are heat treated and machined once they reach the USA, O'H and one bad, your Bowtie block is cast in Mexico,(but atleast is not Chinese) The only real American cranks are the high dollar forgings or the Billet cranks.
Now to cut to the chase i sell ProComp products, i donot advertise them just word of mouth. i will not use them for an engine build,and will not sell them to a drag racer, (except starters, they are dam good), only for the street, i also recomment that anyone buying the heads do a valve job on them because i've had a couple leakers as bubbabbc and Carl Hink said, they also donot flow the advertised #'s. They do work o'k on the street, but i donot use their valves. If i sell a set i buy the good valves@ about $225.00 VS $108.00. With that said, i think they are o'k for the street but if you plan an all out race engine i would suggest you go the extra bucks. I personally use Dart or brodix.
These are my opinions only and i'm certainly not trying to sell anything, hell a few yrs. ago i bought a set of Trick Flow heads for my El Camino, still on it today, they run worse than the stock 1.94 heads. Advertising sells products but most of them are just not true. If you want to go fast, do what the other racers are doing and spend the extra bucks.

I worked for a companty that bought a good deal of their parts from China then unpacked,cleaned and then stamped the part number and "USA" on them. I suppose they could do it because we did do something to them. These were our long running high quantity parts that we had been running for years. Point is, just because it says made in the USA DOES NOT mean it is.

Tod, I know your rite. I do my best to buy usa but its getting harder & harder. I cant even count the number of times I have bought things that were supose to be made in usa that weren't. I guess it just pisses me of when we have co's like dart that put all the r&d to make a great product and employ people here have to compete against chinese co that do nothing but steal others work. we need to stick together and support usa manufactures the best we can, if we want to keep our jobs , we need to support the co's that our american brothers work for & they should support yours. well congress is going on vacation soon and they will be spending
time at their home office and hanging around their district looking
like they give a damm, this is the time to confront them and make
your voice heard. remind them we are the gov. and we voted
them in and the problems we did not vote on, they will be easier
to contact in their district then at the capital, we have formed
several rallies to get our voices heard and make them know
we are not happy with their performance in the capital,
and where our country is headed, good luck :(

My facts may be wrong, but about six months ago I read an article that indicated what US senators wages & perks were.
wages average 1800/ day
Free healthcare including all hospital stay and perscriptions.
A shi_ load of Vacation..... More than one person should ever deserve.
I can't remember the amount, but their retirement pay was off the charts.

Their wages are way to high, Theres no way they should make 1/2 a million+ a year. Thats a 90 grand a year job.....PERIOD...........

Health care; They are making so much dough they ought to pay a portion of the insurance bill just like everyone else does these days.

Why do you think politicians always want to cut taxes for those who make in excess of 250,000.00.

Why would you ever worry about healthcare if its free, The politicians, don't... Their healthcare is free.
