Is this a street or strip engine? Do you already have heads or looking to buy?

im looking to buys head but for like 250 bucks max and something with a low cc combustion chamber so i can get my compression up to like 10:1 it is more of a street motor but i wanna have enough get up go so when i pull up next to these rice burners im gone before they get a chance to step on the gas im looking for lie 350-375 hp with 9.5:1 and the cam listed

dragonmaster093 02-09-2011 05:28 PM

all 400 sbc that i know of had 2.02 camaros caprices vettes trucks some motnes 70s and ho 80s motors had them heads are plentiful and breath fairly well other option is a vortec head off newer 350s not LT motors though

in street form the 10:1 in my humble opinion is both pushing it for pump gas and an iron head getting in the area of needing an aluminum head but thats my opinion and im sure others will way in on it

hotrod1994 02-09-2011 05:55 PM

yeah i was thinking 10:1 is about all ill get on pump gas but the iorn head is fine my dad ran a big block with 13:1 compression with rectangular port h.o big block heads so i think the heads are ok

bog blocks whole different ball game i dont think 10:1 on pump gas and iron heads a good idea was just talking about this with 3 engine builders last week all said at that cr an aliminum head is needed and the start at about 500 assembled but thats my opinion and what i was told

The 1.94 Head's are alot better for the street. Run the 1.94 and you will be ok on the street :!:
