This 1928 Ford Model A is a full steel body sedan, but you can instantly see this is far more than a classic cruiser. With a mean look, upgraded suspension, strong chassis, upgraded motor, and a custom/comfy interior, this is a very cool street machine that has been given attention in all the right places.
The black paint has a nice shine, and you will see that this is an overall driver quality and driver-ready finish. After all, if the body is Henry Ford steel, it seems kind of nice to have a little maturity to the application. Plus, it's a full midnight style with the deleted chrome front bumper, blackout grille, and black vinyl top. All this black also makes for a great canvas to lay down a detailed retro-cool theme. It starts with painted yellow and blue graphics with purple edging along the profile. And we love the way the red custom pinstriping highlights the details of the classic body. Swoopy fenders, large exhaust tips, and staggered iconic American Racing wheels are all about making sure this custom also has plenty of street machine attitude.
The interior takes advantage of decades of progress. The front bucket seats may have the same low-back style as an original Model A, but the cloth pattern and bolstering let you know this is generations ahead. An upgraded rear seat, custom door panels, and provisions for air conditioning (it will need servicing and components) are all part of what lets you know this was made to be a cruiser. There's a nice driver's attitude, too, with the vintage-style sports steering wheel on a tilt steering column, a tall Lokar shifter, and a dash full of crips Classic Instruments readouts.
Under the hood is a bright Buick 3.8-liter V6. It's larger than what ford was offering with their four-cylinder, and in fact, you know these as the base for the Grand Nationals. While it doesn't have a turbocharger, the four-barrel carburetor and aluminum Holley intake make sure this is quite a healthy powerhouse. And everything from the electric fan to the glasspack-style dual exhaust is there to give you a solid driver feeling. In fact, as you look underneath the car, you'll see the components for a competent cruiser. This includes a strong TCI chassis, Heidts SuperRide independent front suspension, Flaming River rack & pinion steering, four-link rear, coilovers at each corner, and power brakes with Wilwood front discs.
