Description

Available for the first time is an All Steel, 1934 Ford Hot Rod with a documented history back to the early 50’s. Known by some as the “Salt Lake Coupe”, this all-steel Hot Rod has that unique “Wow Factor” that would be a stunning centerpiece for a discriminating collector.

This ‘34 underwent a complete frame-off, 7 year $375K restore and refine build, with components original to the car and using only era-correct authentic and rare vintage parts, which took years to find. Custom fabrication was done with era-correct tools and methods.

For Specifications and full story see The Rodders Journal Issue #60. Also see the Storyboard photo below.

Highlights:
Body:1934 Ford 5 W Coupe chopped 5”, A pillar laid back, C pillar contoured forward, for more graceful lines. Floorboards are original that the car was born with.

Paint: Naples Orange, as painted in the early 60’s; a 56 Packard color

Engine: 1954 Cadillac 331 with ’56 heads, fully built by famed NHRA Hall of Famer Tony Feil

Trans: 1964 Corvette M-21 4 speed, the newest component on the car

Front Suspension: ’34 Ford I-beam heated and dropped the way it was done back in the day

Rear Suspension: Vintage Halibrand Culver City 301 Champ Magnesium Quick Change

Wheels: Rare magnesium American 5 spoke

Interior: Spinneybeck Premium Italian Leather, custom dyed to match the body, with Cream roll and pleat inserts, and ’60 Pontiac Black with gold flake carpets. Original floorboards that the car was born with.

Recognized in:The Rodders Journal, Issue #60, a Cover and 18 page chronicle of the Salt Lake Coupe’s history going back to 1954 where it was channeled in Salt Lake City’s West High School metal shop class! This is an example of how it was done back in the day.

Rod and Custom Magazine, Feb. 1964, a 3 page story including a “Rod Test”
Kustomrama Online Magazine, documenting the early days of this Rod, known as the Maxwell Coupe.

Awards Include:
2013 Debut at the Detroit Autorama, 3 awards
2019 Greenwich Invitational Concours d’Elegance, Brock Yates Award
2015 Syracuse Nationals, Top 10 (out of ~ 8000 cars)
2015 NSRA Top 100
2016 Goodguys East Coast Nationals, Top Award; Real Street Rod
2016 Lead East back to the 50’s weekend, Best Hot Rod
2017 Dead Man’s Curve Club Pick

This is an authentic hot rod that defines the late 50’s/early 60’s era. This is not a new 350/350 street rod made to “look like” a traditional rod. This is the real thing, with documented history and provenance that cannot be duplicated. The rare, hard to find vintage parts alone cost over $200K giving the next owner secure value, as the cost of rare vintage parts continues to climb.

In pristine condition, available for $135,000 OBO.
